Fremantle

From Perth we visited Fremantle for 4 days.  We LOVED Perth but FELL IN LOVE with Freo.  What an amazing city.  Full of beautiful old heritage buildings in excellent condition.  All thru the CBD the streetscapes were amazing.  We walked and walked the streets admiring the heritage of this place.   The two worst things - flies, flies and more flies, these sticky little buggers have been with us forever it seems .W.A. has been all about the flies, have never encountered anything like them before.  And parking, you have to pay for parking everywhere in Fremantle, even if you want to shop at Woollies or Coles.  It  averages  arnd. $1.50/hr. but you have no choice.  Fortunately for us on our 2nd day here we found a free parking spot, right on the esplanade, next to the free town bus stop.    That was our target everyday from then on.   There are 2 free buses that travel different routes around the cbd so you can hop on and off at your required place of interest.  The same thing was availalble in Perth as well.    The esplanade and boat harbour/marina is beautiful, you must own a boat here.   House & land prices are thru the roof, as is in every part of WA we have visited so far.    Land down near our caravan park, 10km from the CBD started at $450,000.!!!!   The houses must be built in double brick as well.   Every house we saw was at least $1mill+++++  It was stinking hot whilst we were there for 3 days and then the heavens opened up on the last day.  Still we loved the place.   Visisted museums, the old gaol, 2 markets.   We bought lots of choccies for trick or treat as there were lots of kids in the caravan park, but noone came so we have had to eat them ourselves.  Bugger

Our caravan park was part of  state park, a short walk to the beach.  We wandered down to the jetty each night to watch the fishermen and the pelicans.  These Franciscan brothers were trying their luck.  It was just such a strange sight to see.
