Of course, we have had a few things go wrong along the way. First up, we lost all our frozen food in the Waeco Fridge, when Rick forgot how to plug it into 240 volt/12 volt in the car. That caused some anguish and a big stink. Then we flattened the battery in the Suzuki and had to get it jump started. Rick got sick and ended up at the doctors, being treated for a serious cold. We had one of our window awnings come adrift from the bus, even though we had asked the installer to double check them all and make sure that they had drilled into steel on the sides of the bus. Can't fix it at the moment, so have had to take it off. Then we lost all power in the bus batteries twice. The batteries are 5 years old now, so we were expecting them to start dying. Off we went and bought 3 new batteris, an expense we didn't need. Rick then needed a drill to drill out one of the terminals, the drill is at home of course. So we hoped the old batteries would linger a little longer until Tony and Ros joined us and we could use Tonys drill. Of course, since then, the old batteries have performed beautifully and the new batteries are in the back of the car.
. At a recent camp spot it was quite hot and we put out our big awning for the first time since we had it replaced. The old awning was damaged in a storm. We discovered two large cuts in the fabric. Equal distance from each end, equal size in cut, nice and straight. We think that when the outer case was painted, the painter has cut off the masking tape with a Stanley knife and gone straight thru the fabric. Not happy. Another problem to take up with the installer when we return. Then I got sick and ended up at the St. George Hospital in Qld. With a bad infection, thanks to Rick giving me his cold. I had been feeling crappy for a week or so, dosing myself up with cold and flu tabs but I just got too sick. Some anti biotics and a day later I feel great. Then, we flattened the battery on the Suzi again, but this time, no amount of work could get it started. We spent almost 2 hours working on it and by which time Rick was wanting to burn it!!!!!!!!! So we couldn't take the car off the A Frame and tour around, just had to tag it along with us until we could find a mechanic prepared to help us out. Finally got a great guy in St. George to work out what the problem was, got that fixed, but because we didn't run the car, but towed it, it was flat again. Off today to Supercheap and bought a battery charger. Would you believe that shops aren't open on Sunday here in Roma. Woolworths Supermarket doesn't open at all. Supercheap is only open until lunchtime. How do people cope?????? Must admit IM missing Aldi Supermarkets. We are now camped up at a lovely weir this afternoon, ran the generator, charged the battery and fingers crossed, tomorrow we should be up and out in the car. The bus and car are absolutely filthy. Wanted to wash it in St. George, where we stayd at a caravan park, but we were refused permission. They have abundant water here, but the owner was adamant we couldn't use a drop. Claimed we would "make mud".!!!!!!!! So we have had a few problems but I guess that's part of travelling. We have forgotten to bring so many things, and that's a mystery to me, cos I was, I thought, well prepared. But last minute, I just forgot to put things in the bus. Nothing that we can't live without mind you. Anyway we are hoping its all good news from now on.
