Well, once again we are on the road. This is the trip we had been wanting to do before Rick was diagnosed with his faulty heart valve and needed Open Heart Surgery. As soon as Rick got the OK from his Cardiologist to drive the bus we got ready. 3 days before we wanted to leave, we found our bus batteries were flat, they are the batteries that run the actually bus motor . New batteries bought and fitted. Saturday morning, getting ready to go, Rick was fixing our rooftop pod to the Suzuki, slipped off the back and fell heavily hitting our paving block retainer wall. Grazed back, bruising and cut shoulder and cut head. All he needed was to crack his chest open or be concussed. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then we were concerned about our 12 volt batteries that run our "inhouse". But hit the road regardless. Half a day in, no power in the bus - no lights, no water pump/water, no toilet, no microwave etc. etc. Dead batteries for sure. A visit to an auto electrician on Sat. afternoon in a country town, confirmed our fears, dead batteries and he had no stock. Off to chase batteries further up the Highway. We ended up buying and fitting batteries in a shopping centre carpark, with the help of a really nice young guy. Turned out to be a local detective. Lovely, Lovely guy. A Petrol Head/Ford GT man, so he and Rick had lots to chat about as they replaced the three batteries. Then we hit the road in the dark and rain. Bang, a chunk of tyre blew off one of the back tyres. Didnt get anywhere near as far as we wanted. Of course, the crap continued. The generator wouldnt work and our diesel heater as well. What more can we endure. Yep, it was raining and our hatch over the bed leaked, Wet doona for the night. Whoo Whoo. Over it already.
Eeeek! What a miserable start. It has to be better now.
