Denham & Monkey Mia
Denham was a nice little seaside town on the coast. Nothing much here, a nice beach, noone swimming though. Its all about Monkey Mia and the dolphins, 25kms up the road. At Monkey Mia there is nothing there except a resort and the dolphins. You must pay to enter. It was one of those things you had to do, and after doing it, wouldnt be going back in a hurry. Very regimented. You had to remain on a boardwalk until told to enter the beach, you couldnt enter the water until told to, were forced to keep in a straight line and not interact with the dolphins unless they interacted with you first. Of course, the dolphins were there for the fish, not the crowd. At least 100 people in the water. 4 people were chosen to feed the dolphins - 1 fish per dolphin. There were only 4 dolphins in the water. Anyway we wandered off, had a coffee and a chat with some fellow travellers and then went back onto the beach, only 50 people there, 6 or so dolphins came in, but we were "over it" so just sat and watched. Then decided to stroll down to the swimming beach and look for some shells for Bella. Lucky for us, the dolphins decided it was time for play and came to visit. It was as though they wanted to show off and get a reaction from those of us paddling in the shallows. I tried to get lots of photos, but was too busy just watching their antics. They hung around for probably 10 mins and then all of a sudden, they all turned and left in a formation almost. Now that was good. The other "dolphin experience" was just a big take.
